FRIDA IN TEHUANA DRESS HINGED BOX

FRIDA IN TEHUANA DRESS HINGED BOX

Frida in Diego’s favourite outfit a Tehuana dress. The dress is pulled up to frame the face. Frida has painted veins of life emanating from the collar. She has also painted it to resemble a sunflower. It is very delicate. 20 x 11 cm

There are reminders to me of a Goya etching where the women having a game with the men pull their dresses to frame their faces then place upside down chairs on their heads!

The box has brass hinges and the panels are glass  each panel is painted on the reverse in Peru by an artisan. Fair Trade
